Experience Esports at Dorchester District 2

For students at Summerville High School, school now doesn’t just end at the bell – they can now experience the electrifying world of esports! When the school day is over, students don their headphones and surge into a brand-new esports lab, boisterous with laughter and high in energy – four students facing off in Super Smash Bros, while five students compete in a Valorant tournament from the comfort of their own school.

Under the advisement of coach David Griggs, the Dorchester District 2 is the first school district in the Lowcountry to launch an official esports program. It appears that the demand for an esports program has been growing for some time – it was a student and alum from Ashley Ridge High School who finally realised their goal of making esports a part of the school’s culture.

Esports, short for electronic sports, are organized video game competitions that really rev up the crowd. Players have the choice to play as individuals or as teams for thrilling tournaments and competition. Fort Dorchester High School junior Loie McLaine has seen this demand firsthand since she joined the esports program, once an informal gaming club in the school. It soon became evident that the members of the club wanted more than just to talk about the games – they wanted to play!

Take your gaming skills to the next level with Dorchester District 2’s esports program! Explore a world of exciting and interactive virtual sports, and make unforgettable memories with your friends. So what are you waiting for? Join us now and get ready to experience the cutting edge of competition!
